CBT Motorcycle Course For Novice Riders
A1 allows you to ride a scooter, small motorbike, and ride as the pillion ride of a passenger when you are 17 or older.
Two-day class without tests. This is a great introduction to riding. It focuses on re-learning the main parts of a bicycle as well as slow exercises for controlling.
Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)
The CBT is a required course for all novice riders. It typically takes a full day to complete. If you are able to meet the required standards at the end of the course your instructor will present you with a certificate of completion that is referred to as a DL196.
In this course, you will learn how to operate a motorcycle. You will be supervised by a knowledgeable instructor throughout the course of the day. You will also be given an hour of theory to teach you the highway code, the rules of the road, and safe position of the lane. You'll be taught how to check and maintain your bike, and how to carry a pillion (if applicable).
The next stage of the CBT involves practical riding on a site. Your instructor will mark a safe area in which you can practice your abilities. You will start off slowly and work on basic safety checks before moving on, stopping the motorcycle, and braking properly. Your trainer will be in contact with you throughout this time, and will help you until they are satisfied that you can perform the exercises to a safe level.
This section of the course introduces you to the different types and conditions of traffic and roads. You'll learn to safely navigate traffic lights and roundabouts as well as how to use one way streets. Also, you will be taught the basics of cornering as well as figure of eight and emergency stops.
This is the final portion of the CBT and your instructor will take you on a variety of different roads. You will be in constant radio contact with your instructor who will be monitoring your progress. You will receive a CBT DL196 certificate if you are able to prove that you can operate a motorbike and handle various road situations.
While it has been in use for a while now, CBT is still a essential part of motorcycling and we have seen significant improvements in accident statistics since the introduction of CBT. It is important that you select a motorcycle school that provides complete CBT courses to ensure that you are well-prepared and ready to go into the world of two-wheeled motoring.

zasady kategorii a1 to obtaining an A1 license is passing the motorcycle theory test. This is a 40-minute test that tests your understanding of traffic rules, road signs and general riding safety. It is highly recommended to go over the Highway Code before taking this test to maximize your chances of passing.
The day following your CBT you will start your module 1 training. You will be riding the bike that is suitable to your particular category of licence. If you are aiming at an A1 it will be an A1 Honda Monkey. The course will include plenty of off-road balance and control exercises to prepare you for the necessary manoeuvres on the module 1 test. You will also visit the DVSA test center to familiarize yourself with the marking system and procedures that are used for each test.
After completing your training, you can take your motorcycle test at a DVSA approved test center. You'll need to bring your CBT certificate as well as a valid passport or photocard driving license.
After you've completed Module 1 and passed the test, you'll be ready for your Module 2 test, which takes place out on the roads. The examiner will guide you on a brief ride around the locality, and you'll have 35 minutes to complete it independently. The examiner will be assessing your ability of multitasking while following road signs and will expect that you demonstrate good driving skills.
If you pass both Module 1 and Module 2 after which you'll be able to take advantage of the freedoms offered by an A1 light licence. This will allow for you to ride bikes up to 125cc, without the requirement of a learner's licence. You will also no longer be required to display your L plates. In addition an A1 licence will permit you to carry a pillion rider and prevent you from having to take your CBT every two years. This is an excellent alternative for those who wish to be able to enjoy the joy of motorcycling together with a friend or partner. The next step after an A1 license is the A license that is unrestricted and requires a full driving license.
Module 2 Practical Test
Once you've passed Module 1 and your theory test, you can take the practical part of your motorcycle licence - Module 2. This test will give you an A1 licence which allows you to drive a motorcycle that is 125cc or larger with power up to 11 BHP. You can also carry passengers and ride on motorways.
The Mod 2 test is an independent riding test lasting about 10 minutes. The examiner will follow you on a predetermined road route that has varying traffic and road conditions. The route is crowded with junctions, roundabouts, and dual carriageways. You'll need to be able to ride in various conditions.
Module 2 will test your ability to recognize the road ahead, anticipate traffic and navigate roads. This is important because it enables you to make quick decisions when driving on the road. For instance, if you're driving on the road and see a car swerving towards your path, you will have to be able react quickly.
You'll also have to demonstrate good slow control, such as being capable of pulling away smoothly and stop confidently, as well as maintain speed. You must be able demonstrate effective brakes, and perform a controlled U turn when required.
Then, you'll be tested on your ability to signal and shift gears. You'll be asked to indicate when you are overtaking a vehicle, and at the exit of a junction and to change gears when needed.
If you've passed both the parts of the Module 2 test, you'll be sent your A1 license in the mail. You'll then be able to ride your new bike through the countryside or commute to work in style and in comfort. No matter if you ride either a supermoto or a scooter the new A1 license will be your ticket to freedom adventure, excitement and adventure.
